Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for national anthem out of protest, SF 49ers were shocked, outraged and at a loss for direction------they thought they had traded him last season.

His action on HIS own behalf has back fired on him.He really screwed up, he'll most likely never start as a quarterback in the NFL again. That's the word on the street. :)

Like he gives a shit ... half his contract is "guaranteed".

Plus he can come play in the CFL if he wants lol, I will take him on my team.

Want Colin Kaepernick to 'move to Canada’? CFL wouldn’t be his worst move

Some 49ers faithful want Colin Kaepernick to "move to Canada" with his American flag protest. If the quarterback gets blackballed by the NFL when looking for a chance to start again in 2017, Canada actually wouldn't be the worst idea.

Regardless of his decision to sit during the national anthem, unless Kaepernick can re-emerge as San Francisco's starting quarterback sometime soon, his hefty contract dictates the team needs to part ways with him by next offseason.

It's unfortunate, but what Kaepernick did off the field probably will affect where he gets his second chance. The Canadian Football League wouldn't be a fallback option. It could be a terrific option.

Seeing Kaepernick at his youthful best in the NFL, there's one thing that would make him stand out even more up north.

"He has the arm strength to take advantage of the bigger field in the CFL," said Russ Lande, college scouting director for the Montreal Alouettes and veteran NFL draft analyst at russlande.com. "He would likely have the strongest arm in the league."

The CFL field is 110 yards long and 65 yards wide — the NFL's is 100 and 53.5 in comparison. Kaepernick can let it rip and have more room to zip balls to receivers vertically and horizontally.

Kaepernick's arm and pure athleticism would help make the transition less bumpy. Although he would face some of the same obstacles he's currently facing to execute Chip Kelly's offense, his ability to make big plays with his feet would allow him to compensate more than it does in the NFL.

"The CFL is a quick passing league, so he would have to become much better in terms of footwork and mechanics," Lande said. "However, the thing that would be hardest for him would be his inconsistent accuracy. CFL quarterbacks must be accurate above all else. Some of the best CFL QBs do not have NFL-caliber arm strength but make quick decisions and have excellent accuracy."

Another big difference between the CFL and NFL is there are only three downs. Early in his career, Kaepernick was on point with his deep balls. Finding that combination again would make him absolutely lethal when added to his speed.

Think of our fascination with dynamic, dual-threat QBs in the NFL. From Randall Cunningham to Michael Vick to Cam Newton, and to until recently, Kaepernick, the excitement and the hype has followed. In the NFL, big or small, those type of QBs are gods among passers.

The biggest (and smallest) CFL superstar of all time remains Doug Flutie. Although he had some NFL success in his late-career return to the Bills, Flutie became a magical meme in his eight years with three CFL teams, matching what he once was after that Hail Mary and Heisman Trophy at Boston College.

Flutie was prolific at pushing the ball downfield and used his athleticism to be a very elusive runner in the CFL. Kaepernick is much bigger, faster and stronger, so the superstar potential is off the charts if he can fix his game. The pressure of leading a CFL team to the Grey Cup still pales in comparison to what Kaepernick has faced trying to break through again in San Francisco.

    MORE: Most notable NFL/CFL crossovers

Kaepernick, 28, is at the exact age when Flutie became a crossover sensation and immortal legend in Canada. While American football fans may forever take issue with Kaepernick, the CFL will be ready to embrace him as the new face of the league. He would arrive just in time, given it's new big broadcast deal with ESPN.

"I have a feeling fans would love to see him up here," Lande said. "They love football, and someone with his skill set would be loved."

    1. biwhtcpl4blks
that's insulting to Flutie, Moon and all the others who have played in the CFL. they excelled there because they never quite working to get better while being overlooked in NFL. he hasn't done that. they blossomed ther because the were ready to play mentally, most of all. this guy isn't and at the NFL level it stands for Not For Long, if you don't study more than everyone else. period. noone will take him. he done. career suicide.

also, if I may. they don't run primitive high school offenses in the cfl, either. he can't read past first look here, wont there either. reads the same, both leagues. he's illiterate for a pro qb. can't catch up now/ever. he done. plus: I know when I make a "stand" I always go way back behind evryone, and sit with my head down between my knees , buried in the water coolers to make my point to a nation. c'mon. he's makin it up as he goes. we're a buncha suckers, man.

a writer, a news source? named? no? why? good reason for it, I think. writer is fundamentally, just WRONG on most every point raised, and others just 'suggestions' of factual knowledge are nothing short of uninformed and wishful thinking. reads of agent speak to me. a sell. his arm strength and athletism dont impress pro coaches, as the ONLY attributes you bring. they cut great athletes for a living everyday. qb the pro level it ONLY about intellect and acedemic processing first. film study and then more of it. practicing the same thing with mind numbing repetition to establish timing, placement, consistantcy. then, do again. and again. his lack of basic fundementals, cant be learned now. he hasn't invested academically what it takes to be successful in pros, either. ya don't get that back. it too late. he knows it. it's easy to see. the writer wrong on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL in this piece above.

His shortcomings were well mentioned in the article and the bottom line of the article was to point out that he has a strong arm that could be well served on a bigger playing field ... the rest can be taught to make him a better all around QB. Knowing that the CFL is a throwing league he would have more time in the pocket to develop a play as the emphasis is on downfield coverage moreso than blitzing the QB and he would be good at "out throwing" coverage, the rest can be done by the front line to give him the time to do that.

Sure he might crash and burn but he is still a "work in progress". Regardless, he will leave football a very rich man ...

I am not a football fan, but I think this is a pretty stupid gesture.

At the 1968 Olympics at Mexico City several American Negro athletes gave the black power salute when receiving their medals. When George Foreman received his gold medal in boxing he raised a small American flag.

    1. biwhtcpl4blks
foreman also says he caught hell for, too. he says they "told" him how they "expected" him to be that day. says they really disrespected him and he says put a damper on his olympic expirience. he understood them, but says he was to proud and really just in his own moment and what he did do was unplanned and spontaneous. then they took it as george disrespecting them. apparently smart enough not to start a fight with young george about it, though. probably a good idea. to each thier own, I guess. but we shouldn't ostracize a fellow just because he doesn't walk the same exact path another does. I don't like this whole thing. but I don't think this is actually real or true, myself. making it up as he goes. we've built him an excuse for being a selfish ass.

when they dump his they will be sued by lawyers already preparing for that day. they will cry racism as he is trying hard to be as black as he can these days. they will dump him cause he's dead weight and impeeding progress. he's not. 9er execs are. but he'll have it all leaning his lawyers way by then and they'll have it all framed and it will be 'racism', and corp face is to will give em whatever they want to go away but they will be labeled as racist and forced to sell to a mandated minority majority owned group of owners buying at a steep dicount with some jewish bankers cash . it's golden, and I believe myself's theory.

No one's saying he doesn't have the right to do it. We just think that what he is saying is moronic, idiotic, ungrateful, churlish.

In the same way that Moochelle Obama was moronic when she said "for the first time I'm proud to be an American." This is a guy that makes millions of bucks a year to throw and catch a ball that looks like an oversized turd. And he's insulting everyone on the field, in the bleachers, and on the boob tube who give him that living. Idiotic.

The irony is that the whole BLM movement is moronic. It is a trojan horse, funded by Soros. Thus these knucklehead ball-throwers who are sitting down are useful idiots, "expressing" nothing but their ignorance.

It reduces to this: "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" is a lie. Most of us know it. This false narrative has been foisted upon us, and we are tired of it.

    1. Wee Hector
So a bit like saying that you and your ilk are moronic, idiotic, ungrateful, churlish because the present president isn't the one you voted for. The Republicans on here have done nothing but moan for the last 8 years since Obama was elected but, of course that means nothing because you have all done your duty by standing up when the flag is raised. You are nothing but a bunch of fucking hypocrits.

they are saying something like that. but, thing is he can't write a million dollar check. they don't just drop 12 mill in you account one day. there are certain obligations he has to keep. minor stuff. but he doesn't have that kinda cash laying around as disposable like that. if he did if he could? he's really as dumb as he looks and sounds.

I wonder why the English seem to always seem to have need to make sure everyone knows how much the hat their royal family. I've worked with many, and never once asked a single one how they felt about the royal crime syndicate. I never gave fuck what any english person, or british person or whatever the fuck they call themselves thought of them. never asked a one. but knew they all hated the royals. like they think I'm gonna ask anyway. asked only, is it really that small? food really that bad? and is there really no dentists there?

No, actually it is nothing like that. Nothing at all.

And you're falling again into the lie. The contrived crisis of the illusory racial divide.

People here are not moaning and groaning because Obama is black. They are moaning and groaning because he has enacted many immensely destructive policies. Not the least of which being the erosion of rule of law and an historical usurpation of executive power.

Another aspect of the lie is that the protests against Obama's policies are construed by the media as merely idiotic moaning and groaning, because an acknowledgement of the usurpation and decline would reflect unfavorably on the Great Man.

However, if by chance a Republican is elected president, we will know almost immediately how much damage has been done these past eight years, because the media, suddenly and miraculously at liberty to finally report on all the bad news, will blame the damage on the new president, the moment he steps into office, and the media will remind us of that Republican president's direct culpability for these past eight years, every single day he is in office. (Another motivation for finally reporting on the damage in this way will be the Left's horror over the stark reality that the abusve executive power that Obama has usurped is now in the hands of a Republican.)

On the other hand, we could elect Hillary Clinton.

In which case we will continue to blame Bush.

    1. Wee Hector
Where in my comment did I mention that Obama was black? I didn't . You repubicans bring it up as though it makes him less than a human being. And you don't think that the idiot child GWB (aka Dubya) enacted many immensely destructive policies. Christ, the man was the biggest disaster since Raygun and the only reason Ronnie wasn't assassinated was because he didn't have a bloody brain for the guy to blow away.

I was told on more than one occasion that my not voting for Obama was proof that I am a racist. Never mind that his policies went against everything I believe in as a free economy loving American. And if you notice Clarise said that the moaning from the right has nothing to do with his skin color and everything to do with his policies.

Obama said it was "unpatriotic" for Bush to have run the deficit up by $5 TRILLION, and he was going to fix it.
In fact, Obama did not fix it and ran the deficit up an additional $10TRILLION.
I guess that makes Obama "unpatriotic".
      Or a liar.
      Or plain stupid.
      Take your pick.

And as far as Reagan goes, he will likely go down in history as not only the best president in the last 100 years, but as the President that kept us from nuclear war.

    Weren't you?

Well, if you're not referring to the "race card," then what characteristic of Obama's are "we" irrationally whining and bitching about?

I'm having a HickoryStick moment here. Seems I can't follow anybody today. Best to just sit back and let all of you win.

    Gitta love Howie!

Virtue signaling a PC merit badge

    Howie Carr 9/2/16

    *not_secure_link*www.bostonherald.com/sites/default/files/styles/gallery/public/media/2016/06/23/009012016congresssitin1.jpg?itok=b1Xz6JUN

“Virtue signaling” — I’d never heard of the term until a couple of days ago, but once it was explained to me, I immediately understood the concept, because we are all surrounded by it.

Virtue signaling (VS) is a sanctimonious gesture that shows that you, a Beautiful Person, are “kind, decent and virtuous,” as a British newspaper recently defined it.

But even more important than the preening nature of the virtuous signaling is that it must be absolutely meaningless and ineffectual, while performed at no risk of any sort whatsoever to the person who does it.

Think any number of hashtags: #bringbackourgirls. (How’d that one work out for you, Moochelle Obama?) #nevertrump. (So, you want Hillary? Really?)

The Black Lives Matter banner in front of Somerville City Hall — classic! The more lily-white the suburb, the more ostentatious the Black Lives Matter VS affectations. How about the old yard sign: “DARFUR: Not on our watch.” (Hey pal, you live in a $3 million mansion in South Brookline — who said it was on your watch?)

Remember the sit-in in the House chambers by Democratic members of Congress to protest the slaughter at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando? That was classic virtue signaling.

A Muslim terrorist murders gays while shouting “Allahu akhbar!” So rather than grappling with the actual problem, the fake Indian et al. stage a no-heavy-lifting sit-down protest to demand more gun laws … even as their president signs pardons and commutations for hundreds of federal felons incarcerated for violating already existing gun laws.

How about those free electric-car recharging stations at Whole Foods markets? The first time I saw one of them, I kept cruising the parking lot, looking for the free gas pumps to fill up my car. I mean, electric cars are in fact coal-powered, and isn’t coal even worse for Mother Earth than petroleum products?

Bumper stickers are the most common form of virtue signaling. “Go metric.” (No, you go metric. Leave me alone.) “My other car is a bike.” (Hey, I hope you’re a more courteous bike rider than you are a driver.)

Take Leonardo DiCaprio. Please. Any Hollywood celeb who babbles on about global warming and then jumps on his private 757 to jet off to some private tropical paradise is guilty of open and gross virtue signaling. (Come to think of it, this category includes John Kerry.)

What all of these virtue signals have in common is their political correctness. Think of them as PC merit badges.

Social media makes virtue signaling ever easier. Another Muslim terror attack in France — #jesuischarlie. The nightclub shooting? (Sacre bleu! Superimpose the French flag on your Facebook profile picture.)

Then comes the Pulse shooting — lose the Tricolor, replace it with the rainbow flag.

Now Georgetown University apologizes for the slave trade. What?

If you are still unclear as to whether something is virtue signaling, there’s one sure way to know. If John Kerry is doing it, that’s what it most assuredly is.

How's THIS for an "in your face, girlfriend" corporate response? Poor Megan Rapinoe feels she was deprived of her right to disrespect the flag. Guess what, girlfriend? It's not your stadium. You can go out and buy your own stadium and play the anthem as often as you want...or not.

Spirit play anthem before players' entry to nix Megan Rapinoe 'hijacking'

    9/7/16

The Washington Spirit prevented Seattle midfielder Megan Rapinoe from kneeling during the national anthem by altering its pregame ceremonies rather than "subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent."

The National Women's Soccer League team moved up the anthem, playing it while the teams were off the field at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

"We decided to play the anthem in our stadium ahead of schedule rather than subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent," the Spirit said in a statement. "We understand this may be seen as an extraordinary step, but believe it was the best option to avoid taking focus away from the game on such an important night for our franchise."

On Sunday before the Reign's match in Chicago, Rapinoe knelt during the anthem in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco quarterback who has refused to stand during the anthem to protest racial injustice and minority oppression. She said at the time she planned to continue to kneel.

"To willingly allow anyone to hijack this tradition that means so much to millions of Americans and so many of our own fans for any cause would effectively be just as disrespectful as doing it ourselves," the Spirit said in the statement.

Rapinoe said after the game she was "saddened" by the Spirit's move and took issue with their statement.

"It was incredibly distasteful, four days before one of the worst tragedies in our country, to say I tried to hijack this event," Rapinoe said after the game, according to The Washington Post.

The Spirit said team owner Bill Lynch is a veteran who has lost friends in overseas conflicts, along with his close friends.

"The tradition of honoring our military and our patriotism before our games is very important to us," the statement said. "We strongly feel that there are better ways to begin a conversation about a cause than tarnishing a tradition that is so important to so many."

Earlier Wednesday, the Reign said they are standing by Rapinoe. In a statement, the team said it recognizes Rapinoe's action "was offensive to some and a source of inspiration to others."
